Milk output fell 1.7% YOY in April, taking season to date production 5.9% behind the prior year comparable according to Dairy Australia.
Across the states, milk production was mixed with Victorian production down 4.9% YOY for the month, bringing season to date output 6.9% behind prior year. Output in the state’s north dropped 9.2% YOY in April, while Gippsland output fell 4.1% YOY and Western Vic production slid 1.3% YOY. Output in NSW rose 1.9% YOY, seasonal output tracking 9.6% behind prior season. In Tasmania, output has been trending up year on year since December with April output up 9.3% YOY, albeit on low year ago comparative.
