The latest data from Dairy Australia shows domestic milk intake fell 5.9% YOY in August, with seasonal production 6.6% behind the prior year as all major states recorded significant falls.
Victoria’s milk production fell 4.1% YOY for the month, as intake in Gippsland plummeted 8.3% for the month, while milk was down 1.1% YOY in Northern Victoria and down 2.6% YOY in Western Victoria. Seasonal intake in Victoria was down 5.0% compared to the season prior. Tasmania’s milk production was down 6.5% YOY in August and down 9.6% for the season. In NSW, milk production dropped 13.1% YOY in August, taking the season to date 12.9% behind prior year.
