Australian milk output fell 6.2% YOY in September according to Dairy Australia (DA), as wet weather hampered production across all states. Milk intake for the first three months of 2022/23 was 6.3% behind the season prior comparative.

Production in Victoria fell 5.4% YOY in September with year to date intake 5.2% behind prior season. Gippsland output dropped 7.1% YOY, while in the west of the state intake fell 5.6% YOY for the period. Northern Victoria recorded the smallest YOY decline with output down 2.8% in September. NSW output fell 10.3% YOY for the month, bringing seasonal milk output 12.0% behind prior year. Tasmania’s milk production fell 6.1%, bringing season to date 7.5% behind prior year.
