Australia: Wet, wet, wet for Spring

by | Aug 31, 2022 | Australia, Weather

The latest Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) indicates September to November rainfall is expected to be above median for most of the east of Australia, but below median for western Tasmani and south-west Western Australia. According to the BoM, the negative Indian Ocean Dipole event, increasing chance of La Niña during spring, positive Southern Annular Mode index, and warmer than average waters around northern Australia are likely to be influencing this outlook.

September to November maximum temperatures are expected to be above median for the west coast, Tasmania and coastal southern Victoria; below median for New South Wales and southern half of Queensland, most of South Australia away from the south-east, and south-east Western Australia.
