Australian exports mixed

Australian exports were mixed in between July and October. Cheese exports in the four-month period fell 5% to 47,946t, mostly reflecting weaker sales into Japan (-4,251t). In contrast, butter and AMF exports in this period rose 93% and 79% respectively. Combined fat exports (on a commercial butter equivalent basis) were up 88% relative to the comparable at 7,904t.

Exports of SMP increased 30% for the period, driven by a 9,395t combined increase in shipments into SE Asia and China & HK. Whey exports were up 38% YOY, mostly due to growth into the China & HK and SE Asia markets. WMP and infant formula exports declined by 13% and 44% respectively.
