January milk production rose 1.5% YOY with seasonal data now tracking 1.2% behind the prior season comparable. This was an improvement on previous months.
Across the states, output was mixed. In Victoria, production rose 1.6% YOY for the month. There was variation between regions, as output in Gippsland rose +3.3% YOY and Western Vic production lifted +2.8% YOY, while Northen Vic recorded a –1.8% YOY dip in output. Victoria’s seasonal output is trailing –1.9% behind the prior season. Tasmania’s milk production rose 1.5% YOY for January, +1.7% ahead the prior-season comparative. In NSW, milk production rose +3.3% YOY, +2.1% ahead of the season before. Output fell –4.3% YOY in South Australia, now –6.8% behind the prior season production.
