Australian milk continues to fall

Milk production continued its shrinking trajectory, down 9.7% YOY in November, bringing year to date production 7.2% behind the prior season comparative. The decline in November production marks the 12th consecutive month of YOY declines reported by Dairy Australia.

Milk output was down across all states in November with Victorian production down 10.1% YOY, with season to date output 6.6% behind the prior year. Western Victorian production plummeted 12.2% YOY, followed by Northern Victoria down 9.6% YOY and Gippsland down 8.5% YOY. In NSW, output was down 13.1% YOY in November, taking seasonal output 12.2% behind the prior year. Tasmania’s output was down 7.5% YOY in November, while South Australia’s production fell 8.4% YOY for the month.
