January milk production fell 6.3% YOY, taking season to date production 2.6% behind the prior year comparative.
According to Dairy Australia, Victorian output was down 7.5% YOY in January, and 3.2% behind the season to date. Western Victoria was down 11.5% YOY for the month, and 4.4% behind the season prior, while January milk intake in Gippsland was down 8.4% YOY, with season to date intake tracking 4.1% behind. Milk output in northern Victoria was down 1.8% YOY for the month, tracking just 0.6% behind prior season. Tasmanian milk intake has continued to struggle in 2021/22, down 6.5% for the season to January, and 9.3% down for the month. Bucking the trends, NSW, intake rose 1.5% YOY in January, taking season to date production 3.3% ahead of prior year.
