Australian milk stalled in December

Milk collections were down 2% YOY in December due to significant falls across Victoria, however, output remains 0.7% ahead of the season prior.

Victorian output fell 3.1% YOY for the month, taking the state’s milk collections for the season 0.6% ahead of the previous season. Output in Northern Victoria edged up 0.8% YOY in December, while Gippsland intake fell 4.7% YOY for the month and Western Victorian intake was down 4.5% YOY.  NSW milk collections climbed 0.8% YOY in December, with seasonal intake still 1.2% ahead of prior season. Tasmania’s milk output also edged up 0.8% YOY for the month, the state’s intake 2.0% ahead of the previous season. December output was down YOY in Qld (-2.8%), WA (-0.6%) and South Australia (-0.8%), however despite the dip recorded in South Australia, seasonal intake remains 3.0% ahead of the prior year comparable.
