Australian milk up in May

Milk production rose 2.6% YOY in May with Dairy Australia reporting season to date intake 0.8% ahead of the season prior. In Victoria, milk output climbed 2.8% YOY with big discrepancies across the state. In Gippsland, output slid 0.2% YOY in May, while production jumped 5.7% YOY in Northern Victoria and 3.1% YOY in western Victoria for the month.

Output in Victoria remains 0.6% ahead of the prior season comparable. NSW production was up 2.5% YOY in May, bringing season to date output 1.9% ahead of the prior year. Production in Tasmania grew 0.5% YOY in May, 1.4% ahead for the season to date, while SA output rose 3.4% YOY in May.
