Milk production rose 1.3% YOY in October—the highest peak month since 2021. Season to date output was +1.7% ahead of the same period a year ago.
In Victoria, October production lifted 1.9% YOY due to a 6.2% increase in Gippsland milk intake and a 3.3% YOY lift in the north. In the west, milk production was down 3.8% YOY. Victoria’s season to date output was +2.4% YOY. NSW output rose 5.8%, taking output 5.5% ahead for the first four months of the season. Tasmanian milk intake fell 4.1% YOY, marking the fourth consecutive month of YOY declines due to poor weather conditions.
Meanwhile, Fonterra Australia reported milk intake of 12.2m kg of milk solids in October, a 1.3% YOY lift due to continued favourable weather conditions in northern and eastern Victoria. Season to date collections are 2.1% ahead of the prior season.
