Australian output down 0.3% in October

Ten consecutive months of year-on-year increases in milk production came to a halt in October as Australian milk production was down 0.3% YOY. Season to date production remains 1.6% ahead of the prior year comparable.

In Victoria, milk output fell 0.3% YOY for the month, with season-to-date production 1.8% ahead of the comparable. October output fell 1.0% YOY in Gippsland, while output in northern Victoria was down 1.6% YOY for the month. Western Vic production rose 1.4% YOY in October. NSW output rose 1.1% YOY in October, taking season-to-date production 0.8% ahead of the comparable. In Tasmania, output fell 0.9% YOY in October, with season to date intake 3.1% ahead of the comparable. South Australia’s output lifted 1.9% YOY for the month, bringing the state’s season to date output 4.3% ahead of prior year. In Queensland, production continues to fall, recording a 1.7% YOY drop in October. Queensland output has fallen year-on-year every month since August 2017.
