Australia’s April Milk Production Lifts

Milk output rose 4.1% year-on-year in April, bringing seasonal output -0.3% behind the prior-year comparable. Milk production has staged a spectacular turnaround, with year-on-year monthly increases since December, after season-to-date production was -2.3% behind the prior year in November.                    

Victoria’s production rose 5.1% YOY, with seasonal output tracking –0.8% behind the prior year. In NSW, milk output rose 4.9%, with seasonal production +2.8% ahead of the prior season. In Tasmania, output was up 4.5% YOY and the season-to-date now sits 2.2% higher than last season. Still affected by drought, South Australia’s milk production declined 4.0% YOY, with season-to-date production down 6.1% on the prior season.
