The latest long-range forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) for July to September is average rainfall for some central areas, including South Australia’s pastoral zones and parts of the east coast. In Tasmania, drier conditions are expected.
Near median to high streamflows are expected on the east coast for most of August, while low streamflows are forecast for parts of the south. Temperatures are expected to be unusually high for July to September. Sea surface temps are expected to be warmer than average across most of the globe, including around Australia.
The Indian Ocean Dipole and the El Niño-Southern Oscillation are likely to remain neutral until at least the end of winter.
June was drier in parts of Australia’s east and southwest with very dry conditions in southern agricultural regions. Tasmania recorded its third lowest rainfall on record in June.
