Consumer Mood Rose in June

by | Jun 12, 2025 | Australia, News

The Westpac-Melbourne Institute consumer sentiment index rose to 92.6 in June, up from 92.1 the month before. Despite sitting 10.8% above the prior year, pessimists still outnumber optimists with the reading below 100.

Consumer attitudes towards major purchases have been bolstered by Reserve Bank interest rate cuts and moderating inflation. However, survey respondents remain cautious about personal finances for the next year with this subindex declining. The index measuring the economic outlook for the next 12 months also slipped.
