Consumer Sentiment Eases

by | Jul 11, 2024 | Australia, News

The Westpac-Melbourne Institute consumer sentiment index fell 1.1% to 82.7 in July as family finances came under pressure.

According to Westpac, fears of persistent inflation and more interest rate rises weigh heavily on the consumer mood. While tax cuts came into effect from 1 July, consumers have yet to feel any cash flow impacts to incomes and electricity and rent expenses.
