Based on 77% average reported milk production, EU-28 deliveries rose 1.3% YOY in October. All major producing countries have reported data to Eurostat for the month except Germany. The overall growth was despite a contraction in France (-0.7% YOY) and the Netherlands (-0.1% YOY). By itself, Ireland accounted for 40% of the growth in October, but there was also expansion in Sweden, the UK, Poland, Denmark and the Czech Republic. Netherlands is the only major producer having reported data for November, when supply rose 0.4% YOY.
According to the most recent available data, French milk production fell 0.5% in week 49 (ending 6 December 2020). That was the ninth consecutive weekly contraction. German supply fell 0.4% YOY in week 48 and has been declining since mid-August. According to daily AHDB milk collections data, UK milk supply rose 3.3% in the first five days of December – this followed a 2.6% expansion in November.
