by | Apr 14, 2021 | Global, Volume trends

Based on 51% reported average Eurostat milk production, leap-year adjusted EU-27 supplies rose 1% YOY in February. This expansion was the result of stronger supplies in Ireland (+8.1% YOY) and Italy (+6.3% YOY), and despite negative trends in Netherlands (-1.9% YOY), Belgium (-2.1% YOY) and Poland (-0.3% YOY). Some key producers such as Germany, France, Denmark and Austria have still not published February figures on Eurostat. The Netherlands is the only country that has reported March data on Eurostat – output was down 0.7% YOY, the fourth consecutive monthly fall.

According to the most recent data, French milk production fell 3.4% YOY in week 12 (ending 28 March 2021). That was the 25th consecutive weekly contraction. German supply fell 1% YOY in the same week – that was the 12th consecutive weekly decline.

Meanwhile, AHDB reports UK production rose 2.6% YOY in March after increasing 1.2% YOY in February.
