EU Milk Output Up 0.5% In April

EU-27 milk production increased 0.5% YOY in April, the third consecutive monthly expansion. Poland again accounted for most of that growth, increasing output +5.4% YOY for the month.

Output  in Germany and France rose +0.1% YOY each in April while Netherlands and Ireland continued to decline, down -1.3% YOY and -7.9% YOY respectively) Strong growth in the Czech Republic and Austria continued , with output up +4.6% and +6% YOY respectively. Production of EU27 total solids in April was down 0.3% YOY however, reflecting a 0.5% YOY decline in fat while protein was flat.

German milk supplies continued to track higher according to most recent published weekly data. Output rose +0.9% in week 23 (ending 8 June 2024) with little apparent effect of the floods which hit southern regions that week. UK production fell -0.3% YOY in the same week, while French milk output rose +2.3% YOY in week 23 – the third consecutive weekly increase.
