EU milk up marginally higher in March

EU27 milk production in March rose 0.2% YOY, a 7-month low, based on complete Eurostat (except Germany) and AGEA milk production data. Among major producing countries, we estimate that German supplies rose 2.3% YOY in March. Dutch supplies were up 3.3% for the month while Denmark and Poland rose by 0.5% YOY and 1.5% YOY respectively. France and Ireland declined however, down 1.8% YOY and 3% YOY respectively. Since the start of Q4-22, Italy has tracked down close to 3% in YOY terms.

According to the most recent data, German supplies were up 1.5% YOY in week 20 (ending 21 May 2023). That was the 37th consecutive weekly YOY increase. Meanwhile, French milk production fell 3.3% YOY in week 20, the 27th consecutive decline. AHDB reports UK production was near flat since the end of March.
