According to the most recent data, French milk production fell 2.3% YOY in week 31 this year (ending 7 August 2022), the 4th consecutive weekly contraction. German supply was flat in the same week. AHDB reports UK production declined 1.6% YOY in the first 6 days of August after falling 0.6% YOY in July.
Based on 93% of average reported milk production, EU-27 supplies fell 0.2% in June according to Eurostat. This mostly reflects weaker production in France (-1.4% YOY), Germany (-0.2% YOY) and Ireland (-0.6% YOY). Output in the Netherlands, Poland and Austria increased for the month however – up 1.5% YOY, 1.2% YOY and 1.2% YOY respectively. Overall trends are improving, but hot and dry conditions are still expected to have affected supplies in July and August.
