Fonterra milk intake lifted 1% YOY in December due to favourable weather and soil conditions across the North Island. Season-to-date intake is now 3.4% ahead YOY, according to the latest Global Dairy Update from. In comparison, DCANZ reports New Zealand production was up 1.4% with season-to-date +3.74%.
In the North Island, milk intake rose 1.9% YOY in December, with production 4.9% up for the season so far. Production in the South Island eased 0.1% YOY for the month, but season–to-date production is 1.1% ahead of prior year.
Fonterra forecasts milk intake for 2024/25 at 1,498m kg of milksolids, 0.4% ahead of the prior season.
