Fonterra Australia’s milk collections increased 1.3% YOY in December to 11.4mkg of milksolids. Summer milk production has been helped by above average rainfall and cooler conditions associated with the prevailing La Niña conditions.

Despite the favourable December trends, intake for the first half of the season was 2.2% behind the prior year comparable, which Fonterra attributes to an unseasonably wet spring and lower herd numbers constraining peak production.
