German Milk Down In September

German milk intake fell 1.8% YOY in September, the fourth consecutive monthly decline and the largest contraction since February. Despite the decline in milk output, cheese manufacture in September was up 1.1% YOY. Among other key producing countries, Irish milk supplies in September rose 0.8% YOY while Poland was flat.

In latest weekly data, French milk supplies continued to grow on weak prior-year comparables – up 1.6% YOY in week 44 (ending 2 November 2024). That was the 11th consecutive weekly expansion. In the same week, German milk production declined 0.8% YOY, and was down consistently since mid-July. UK milk production continues to surge however, increasing 4.6% YOY in the week ending 2 November 2024.
