Dry conditions across south-west Victoria are affecting local business owners with some locals saying it is the worst drought they have ever experienced.
Local state MPs are urging Victoria’s agriculture minister Ros Spence to deliver the Regional Drought Resilience Plan for south-west Victoria. The plan will help farmers prepare for drought as the area has experienced the driest winter in 100 years. The minister said she is visiting the area in coming weeks and encouraged farmers affected by the drought to seek support through Agriculture Victoria’s programs and services. There are also loans available through the Regional Investment Corporation.
