EU27 milk production in December rose an estimated 0.9% YOY based on 89% of average reported milk production, a 4-month low. Irish milk output rose 7.4% YOY in December (the sixth consecutive increase) while Germany expanded 3.1% YOY.
Dutch supplies rose 4.1% YOY in December and were up 259m kg since June, but on weak prior year comparables and not enough to offset the 270m kg decline in the same period of 2021.
Poland raw milk supplies again increased in December – up 1.7% YOY, but that was the weakest expansion since July. Among other major producers, France reported a 1.3% YOY decrease in December deliveries while Denmark rose 0.6% YOY.
According to the most recent data, German supplies were up 2.9% YOY in week 5 (ending 5 February 2023). That was the 22nd consecutive weekly YOY increase. Meanwhile, French milk production fell 2.2% YOY in week 4, the 11th consecutive decline. AHDB reports UK production rose 2% in the first 4 days of February after being up 1.9% in January.
