Australian milk production fell 8.3% YOY in the first month of the 2022/23 season. July output was down on year ago comparatives in all regions.

In Victoria, milk intake fell across the state with the largest declines in Gippsland and in the western parts of the state. NSW and Tasmania recorded double-digit  year-on-year declines in milk intake for July. Milk intake for July totalled 564m kg of milksolids and marks the first July since 2007 that milk intake was less than 600m kg of milksolids.
