Lactalis is paying suppliers an extra 5c/l from 1 May to help with higher fuel and fertiliser costs. On a per kilo milksolids basis, Lactalis suppliers will receive an extra 64c/kgMS, taking the weighted average milk price to $9.69kgMS, up from $9.05kgMS. The payment provides direct relief through a Farmer Support Payment.
Retailer Woolworths are also paying a small group of farmers more for their supplies. Farmers supplying Woolworths’ Farmers’ Own brand will receive an extra 10c per litre, which is less than 20 farmers. Norco Coop has also confirmed a price increase, with details to be announced following a board meeting later in April.
