Lactalis is closing its South Brisbane plant in July, impacting just over 200 staff members as the facility infrastructure no longer meets the needs of a modern, efficient manufacturing network. The factory, sitting right on the Brisbane River, opened in the 1930s.

Processing will move to other plants, so farm contracts and milk supply arrangements will be unaffected.
