Lactalis Australia has won new contracts to process and package Woolworths’s milk in Western Australia for the next five years, commencing 1 January 2022. Lactalis takes over from Brownes Dairy who held the Woolworths contracts since July 2014. The Woolies contract is believed to be the biggest, since Coles began buying its own-brand milk direct from dairy farmers last October. The contract includes processing and packaging Woolworths’ Farmers Own brand milk under a toll arrangement. The contract is believed to be for more than 30m litres annually and possibly up to 35m litres per year.
Woolworths signed with Lactalis following an open tender process, taking sustainable packaging initiatives and long-term improvement plans into consideration.
