Australian milk output fell 5.3% YOY in February, according to Dairy Australia. Season to date production is now tracking 6.5% behind the prior year comparative.
Victorian milk production fell 6.9% YOY for the month, taking seasonal output 7.2% behind the prior year. Milk intake in the state’s north fell 9.9% YOY in February, followed by an 8.4% YOY decline in Gippsland while output in Western Vic was down 2.3% YOY for the month. Milk production in NSW was down 8.7% YOY in February and as a result is tracking 11.5% behind the prior season comparative. February production in South Australia dropped 5.0% YOY, with seasonal intake down 4.5% on the prior year. Tasmania bucked the national trend with milk intake up 4.9% YOY in February, bringing seasonal intake 1.2% ahead of the prior year.
