Milk Prices Announced

As the 2 June ACCC deadline passed local dairy companies announced opening milk prices for the 2025/26 starting 1 July. Saputo Dairy Australia offered an opening weighted average milk price in the range $8.80kgMS—$8.95kgMS while Burra Foods announced a $8.60kgMS—$9.10kgMS range. Bega Group announced a range of $8.70 to $9.12kg MS. Lactalis is offering its northern Victoria and southern Riverina suppliers $9.20kgMS while the Gippsland and western Vic opened at $9kgMS.

The 2025/26 opening prices fall in the range of $8.40kgMS—$9.20kgMS, higher than in 2024/25  but lower than farmers had hoped for. Farmer lobby organisations say prices under $9.20kgMS are not enough for farmers to get by with drought across Tasmania, western Victoria and South Australia while floods are impacting dairy farmers in NSW and Queensland. Dairy Farmers Victoria president Mark Billing said companies risked the rapid decline of Australia’s milk production if they did not increase prices to help dairy farmers through the tough times.
