The South Australian Government has announced a new $55m drought relief package for farmers, on top of $18m announced late last year.

The funds will go towards rebated, infrastructure updates, financial counselling and mental health support as well as assisting charities that transport feed. Premier Peter Malinauskas noted the previous round of funding had been too slow to reach applicants and promised responses would be quicker this time around.

Last month, Adelaide Hills farmers urged more assistance including interest-free or low-interest loans to aid with the cost of feed and water.
