Rainfall for southern parts of Australia has a roughly equal chance of being above or near-average. The latest long range forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) notes a weak forecast signal for much of south-eastern and western Australia, including areas affected by prolonged dry conditions (South Australia’s far south-east, western and central Victoria, western Tasmania, and western parts of WA). Above average rainfall is likely (60 to 80% chance) for much of inland northern Australia, southern Queensland, and areas surrounding the SA-WA border. Individual monthly forecasts indicate that the chance of above average rainfall increases across much of the country from August.
Warmer than average days are likely to very likely across Australia according to the BoM, with an increased chance of unusually high daytime temperatures, particularly for parts of the far north and south.
