New farmer lobby organisation emerges

Almost the entire policy council of United Dairyfarmers of Victoria (UDV) has resigned due to concerns Victoria’s dairy industry was not being heard under the Victorian Farmers Federations structure and as a result a new dairy farmer body has emerged. Former president of UDV Mark Billing said there was support for the new body Dairy Farmers Victoria from across the industry. Billing said issues raised primarily related to the dairying sector and said the organisation needed to be able to take up these concerns and issues without restraint.

Billing said having a strong relationship with the Victorian state farming organisation remains important with Dairy Farmers Victoria expected to associate, affiliate and cooperate with other associations and organisations with similar objectives.
