Milk production rose 10% YOY on a milk solids basis in August. At 123.8m kg of milksolids it’s the highest August intake since 2020. Milk solids production is tracking 8.3% ahead of the prior year for the season to date and is 4.2% ahead of the five-year rolling average for the month. On a volume basis, milk output rose 9.0% YOY in August and season-to-date volumes are 7.6% ahead of the prior year comparable.
According to NZX, early calving and good grass cover built up during winter has aided milk production. NZX forecasts production will lift 2.3% YOY in October, +0.8% YOY in November before easing 0.5% YOY in December.
