New Zealand milk solids production rose 0.8% YOY in March, taking season-to-date solids output 3.0% ahead of the prior season. On a tonnage basis, output rose 0.6% YOY for the month with season-to-date volumes 2.2% ahead of the previous year.
Production continued to grow year-on-year despite severely dry weather across the northern parts of the country and drought being declared in parts of the North Island.
NZX predicts April production will decline 2.2% YOY and 3.1% YOY in May as North Island farmers dry off earlier than usual.
