The University of Adelaide’s Centre for Global Food and Resources is leading the Australia-Indonesia Dairy Cattle Trade Insights (AI-DCTI) project.   Funded by LiveCorp and Meat & Livestock Australia the project is expected to provide insights into Indonesia’s dairy sector and practical recommendations for the Australian industry to respond to growing demand for dairy cattle—the result of Indonesia $45bn Free Nutritious Meal Program. The Indonesian Government wants “entrepreneurs to farm live cattle here” to meet the meal program requirements.  As part of the program the government had a target of expanding the dairy herd from 500,000 cattle to up to one million in the next five years.
