Rain: It’s complicated

by | Apr 14, 2021 | Australia, Weather

After La Niña downpours through March and April, large parts of Australia have seen rainfall deficiencies significantly reduced. However, it seems La Niña rain has missed a lot of south-east Queensland, affecting dairy farmers in the region.

In the latest drought statement from the Bureau of Meteorology, it is noted that parts of south-west, south-east and eastern Australia have seen substantial declines in cool-season rainfall in recent decades. The forecaster’s State of the Climate 2020 report states April to October rainfall has dropped 12% across Australia’s south-east since the late 1990s.
