New Zealand national milk production rose 2.5% YOY in August on a milksolids basis, marking the fourth consecutive month of growth. Seasonal milk production lifted 4.2% on the prior season—albeit just three months into the new production season.
On a tonnage basis, milk output rose 1.8% YOY with the August total volume the highest since August 2020 and the season-to-date tonnage 3.2% ahead of the prior year comparable.
NZX reports ongoing strength for New Zealand milk production supported by a strong milk price, relatively cheap feed costs and stronger than average pasture conditions. More rain early during the start of winter drove the national pasture growth indices higher as sunlight hours rose with temperatures and moisture on level with the year prior.
