Seasonal Water High

by | Jul 4, 2024 | Australia, Volume trends

Prior season reserves have secured good opening seasonal determinations for the 2024/25 season across the Murray, Goulburn and Campaspe systems.

Resource manager for northern Victoria Mark Bailey said rainfall in the 2023/24 season secured large volumes despite recent months of below-average rainfall. With low no opening allocations in the Broken and Bullarook systems any increase depends on rainfall and catchment flows in the next few months.

The Campaspe has opened with 100% of High-Reliability Water Share (HWRS), with the Murray at 63%. The Goulburn and Loddon are both at 69%. Temporary water prices have more than doubled YOY to $25/ML in June, with a 4% increase in trade across the main Victorian irrigation zones.
