Last week, we reported on historical revisions to milk production numbers as more detailed datasets were made available to Dairy Australia. Shortly after print, July data was released, showing a +4.0% year-over-year hike in milk output for the first month in the 2026-27 season.
Across the states, milk production was mostly higher YOY. In Victoria, July output rose +3.7% YOY to 400.8m litres, with output up +2.3% YOY in Gippsland and +8.5% in the state’s west while production fell -1.3% YOY in northern Victoria. NSW output gained 3.7% to 93.7m litres and output lifted 0.2m litres in South Australia to 28.1m litres. Tasmanian output declined 0.4m litres to 16.0m litres.
In 2025-26, July output accounted for around 7% of total seasonal production
