Truck drivers announced strike action earlier this week, meaning up to 1,400 United Worker Union members across 12 Victorian processing sites = will stop work on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Saputo tanker drivers stopped work early Tuesday morning in Gippsland and in Victoria’s northern milk region. The driver strike against Saputo is over a new enterprise bargaining agreement with workers unhappy about proposed shift change notifications, changes to the time drivers start work, while pushing for a higher pay offer.
Dairy Farmers Victoria has expressed concerns about the ramifications of the strikes on the dairy supply chain, saying the ramifications go far wider than the parties involved, hurting farmers, consumers and the environment.
