US Cheese Output Down 1.7% In November

US cheese production declined 1.7% YOY in November according to the USDA, on a 1.3% fall in manufacturing milk availability. American cheese output fell 4.9% YOY for the month – with a 3.4% decline for cheddar – while “other cheese” (including mozzarella) increased 1.8% YOY.

Combined NFDM and SMP output fell 10.9% YOY in November, with SMP down 33.5% YOY while NFDM rose 2.8% YOY. Butter production rose 4.4% YOY in November, increasing in every month over the past year. Dry whey production decreased 3.5% YOY for the month, with a 4.6% YOY decline in WPC. WPC 50-89.9% output fell 4.2% YOY, while WPC 25-49.9% products declined 5.5% YOY. WPI and MPC production continued to surge, up 9% and 59.2% in November, respectively.
