US Cheese production increased 1% YOY in October according to the USDA, on flat manufacturing milk availability. American cheese output fell 0.2% YOY for the month—with a 3.1% decline for cheddar—while “other cheese” (including mozzarella) increased 1.7% YOY.
Combined NFDM and SMP output fell 9% in October, with NFDM –2.7% YOY while SMP fell 24.1% YOY. Butter production rose 3.1% YOY in October. Dry whey production decreased 11.9% YOY as solids continue to be diverted to Hi-Pro products. WPC output increased 2.3% YOY for the month, WPC 50-89.9% rose 3.6% YOY and WPC 25-49.9% fell 0.6% YOY. WPI and MPC production continued to surge, increasing YOY in double digit percentage terms for the nine consecutive month.
