US cheese production increased 3.9% YOY in February, according to the USDA, with an estimated 3.8% rise in manufacturing milk availability. American cheese output rose 1.9% YOY for the month, with a 2.3% increase for cheddar. “Other cheese” varieties (including mozzarella) increased 5.8% YOY.
Combined NDM and SMP output increased 5.7% YOY in February, reflecting an 8.7% YOY lift in NDM alone, while SMP fell 8.3% YOY. Butter production rose 9.1% YOY in February. Dry whey output rose 12% YOY for the month, with a 5.8% YOY increase in WPC. WPC 50-89.9% output increased 9.2% YOY, while WPC 25-49.9% products declined 5.4% YOY. WPI production continued to surge, up 10.8% in February, but with a 18.1% YOY decline in MPC.
