Based on official Eurostat data, Irish milk production was down 4.1% YOY in January. It’s the second consecutive monthly contraction on some strong prior year comparables and despite higher cow numbers. Dutch supplies were 2.7% lower in January and have declined YOY each month since December 2020. January output in Belgium was also lower, down by 0.7% YOY and growth has now declined for five months in a row.
According to the most recent data, French milk production fell 0.6% YOY in week 7 (ending 20 February 2022). German supply dropped 0.8% YOY in the same week, the 39th consecutive weekly decline. AHDB reports UK production declined 2.1% YOY in the first 19 days of February after falling 1.9% in January.
