Australian milk up 8.7% in February

National milk production rose 8.7% YOY in February, bringing season to date output 3.1% ahead. In releasing the data, Dairy Australia noted the impact of a an extra day to February collections, with the leap year adjusted increase around 5%.

 Victoria led the way, up 10.3% YOY for the month, Gippsland was up 11.7% while the north of the state was 11.2% ahead of the prior year comparable. Western Victoria was 7.8% in February, with the state now 2.5% ahead season to date.

NSW production was up 6.6% YOY in February, while Queensland was up 1.1%. Tasmanian production was up 7.4% for the month and ahead 4.4% for the season to February
