The national 2020/21 wheat crop reached an estimated 33.3mt, up 120% from the 2019/20 drought-reduced crop. According to Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARES) the 2020/2 harvest is the largest wheat crop on record, up 5% from the previous high mark of 31.8mt in 2016/17 and ahead of the five-year average of 21.6mt. ABARES noted the upward revision for the Australian wheat crop was the result of yields continuing to exceed initial forecasts, particularly in NSW and WA.

Meanwhile, barley production is estimated to have increased by 45% to 13.1mt, while canola production is estimated to be up by 74% to 4.1mt.
