Milk production rose 4.9% YOY in January, bringing season-to-date production 2.5% ahead of the prior year, according to Dairy Australia.
Victorian production lifted 5.7% YOY in January, taking output 1.8% ahead of the prior year on comparable. Strong growth was recorded across the state; in northern Victoria output rose 8.9% YOY for the month against a flood-affected year-ago comparable. Production rose 5.7% YOY in Gippsland and 3.1% YOY in the west of the state in January. Further north, in NSW January production jumped 9.4% YOY, bringing year-to-date 6.1% ahead of the prior season. Milk growth continues in Tasmania, with January production lifting 2.3% YOY, season-to-date output is now 4% ahead of the prior year.
